I have dealt with mental illness almost 30 years. My observation is, Don’t ever stop advocating for yourself. Even in physical health, you need to advocate for yourself. You know your body best, listen to it because I found recently and this is my observation, that most healthcare providers rely on high-tech gadgets, computer readouts and don’t really listen to the patient and what they are saying. If test show nothing, scans show nothing, but yet there’s something still going on and not mentally, I’m talking about physically, You know your body keep advocating, find someone who will listen. Don’t become a statistic. Don’t be afraid to ask for a second opinion. Don’t be afraid to say you disagree with something. Don’t be afraid to ask questions just because that person sitting across from you may have more degrees than you. And you may feel that they’re smarter than you and maybe they are. But they don’t know your body like you know your body. Don’t stop advocating. Once again, this is my truth and my observation.
